Pretty much a hype video.

Don't get me wrong, I think what you've done here is pretty cool, but the fact is that it's pretty much all about hype. There were a lot of gifs and whatnot in here, and not a lot of true animation. Good music choice, it fit in very well, and nice sense of wording things; it added to the style. Well, there's not a whole lot more I can say in the matter of Star Trek. I've always leaned a bit more towards the Star Wars faction. Eh, all in all, it's pretty good, just needed a bit more original work. Nice job.

Koradan responds:

I admit, that's EXACTLY what it was; a hype video. I made it for a Klingon Club in Tacoma for the express purpose of recruiting for their club at conventions. This was what they wanted. I made it to their specs, and they liked it. My animation style is more of the style of Terry Gilliam of Monty Python, except I can't draw worth $#!+. Thanks anyway.

Not too bad, nice concept.

Wow, it hasn't even been that long since the CM series wrapped up and you're bustin newer things out already; nice. This is quite a different twist from other things on the portal right now, and it seems to look somewhat promising. The visuals were so-so, but I think there's always time to improve on that and it's really not that important to me when weighing a movie's quality. The sound choice was pretty damn nice, I liked the music when the Necromancer was telling the axe guy to leave the land. It had a touch of that sad-weighted-destiny to it, and that's always good. Provided it's not like that bitter-sweet feeling I got when I saw the last Cowboy Beebop, that shit made me sad for a week. ANYways, nice job, I hope to see more of this series in the future. Keep up the good work.

mmark-oldflash responds:

Yeah, there is only one music track in the movie, but it's so good I felt it could carry the whole movie.

I would love to give this a 10.

I'd love to give this a perfect score, but I can't. This is probably the best looking flash (not including the best pure-flash movies, of course) I've ever seen. The music was awesome and the character design and visuals were astounding. However, because this is a teaser, I'm not convinced that this series is ever going to hit NG. I just think it would be unfair to give this a perfect score based on total hype and visuals (as delicious as they were) when people have worked hard to dish out complete series' that don't get the same credit. I really hope you prove me wrong though, I would love to see this series; as many other people, no doubt. I hope to see a real episode sometime soon, keep up the great work.

Steve-castro responds:

i wont make a game series but I may make a movie series which i will end in a shit game of some sort

Ha ha, you funny bastard.

That was too damn funny. I loved how you had the color clocks in there, I really got a kick out of that. For some reason, even though the voices are totally cliche', I never get tired of the automated voices the clocks have got. Maybe it's their smartass attitudes, maybe it's their individual magic powers and whatnot, I'll never know, but it's damn good. King Henry was hilarious, I loved his ignorantly blunt attitude and foul mouth, props to Krack. With your hilarious visuals (most notably the clocks storming the castle) and Kracks' awesome voice acting, you guys really made something great here. Great job.

LeekClock responds:

Thanks dude - reviews like this are what makes it worth making animations ^__^

True, can't really call this your own.

Ok, I know, I know, this is a tribute to Strongbad, but the problem is that nothing really new was added into this to make it somewhat authentic. It was basically the Japanese Cartoon and Techno Music SB-emial mixed together. It was actually Stinkoman instead of "Strongbad" as well. Oh well, I thought your visuals were pretty good and the music is always funny to hear. But the one thing this lacked was some sort of trademark from you and I think that's what really hurts it. At least your spreading the knowledge about H*R, I'm surprised at how many people don't know about that site. So for what it's worth, good message.

TheShrike responds:

Again, Stinkoman is a mere spinoff. Without Strong Bad, there is no stinkoman. He originally appeared in Strong Bad's e-mail, and the is one 30 second short that involves him outside of that. And that one is a parody of a Homestar short.

As far as personal trademarks go.... you must not have seen or clicked on 'Animated by TheShrike', which floats up at the top of the screen for half of the movie.

Here's an idea..

How about not flooding the portal with your whiney "I hate anime'" crap? Especially when the fire size comes out to 2 megs that resulted out of an uncompressed audio file. Truth be told, DBZ tributes have more originality and animation than this. That's pretty sad. Keep this crap off the portal or learn to compress your audio and make a preloader. Better yet, if it's going to be anything like this trash, just stay off it.

RaNcIdPsYcHoJoSh responds:

I didn't make this animation to be "original" or have animation, dumbass.

Truly does look like a wrestling hype commercial

Ha ha, this really does look like a wrestling promo, just like the other revierer said. In any case, the concept is really good; I like the dirction you're going here. The music was pretty cool, it set the suspenseful mood up pretty good. I think it would have been cool to see a few flashes of them fighting, but oh well. I'm working on a project very, very similar to this, so entries like these only motivate me to continue working on it. Good luck to you, should you decide to make this; if done right, it'd really be a bad-ass film.

ProtoBassX responds:

Well, true... Goldberg coming into the W.W.E. was truly my inspiration for this. I'll try to make this a decent, if not, one of a kind kick-ass movie. Thanks for your support!

Excellent sense of delivery.

Wow, I really wasn't execting much out of this, but man was I wrong. The symbolism in this movie is through the roof; and it's not tacky in the least. The first time the scissors came out enlarged and shined in the light was one of my favorite parts; I'm not sure why. Maybe it just came in at the right part of the time or hit a certain string with me. Your visuals were very well done. It's not so much as how they were drawn, but what you did with them. Like in my favorite part of the whole movie when the boy is flying and both the dark and light shine on him from above and below; Very, very cool. Great message in the end. There was a person very special to me going through tough times once, and her friend had told me she committed suicide by cutting her wrists. I went a week of thinking that and later found out that her friend was playing a cruel joke on me, because the two were fighting. Since then, I've grown a very serious and concious attitude towards suicide and would throw down anything to keep someone away from it. That one week of thinking she was dead was a pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Sorry for rambling on, got caught up in the moment. Great job on your movie, excellent sense of creativity and great delivery.

adam-p89 responds:

Thanks for taking the time to write all that, I really appreciate your "ramblings" they make these moviews worth making. And that joke that that girl played on you was very cruel, I can imagine what you must have felt.. I'm glad you liked it, and that your artistic eye could pick up on my little details like the light from up darkness from bottom one, I didn't expect anyone would! Thanks for reviewing! :)

It's almost a waste.

That's a bummer. You know, I thought your visuals were pretty damn good, and you had the music right on. With some plot thrown in it, this could have really been a kick-ass movie. Well, you've obviously got the talent and patience to make some decent action scenes, do you plan on making an action movie like this any time in the future? With some deep plot, I sure as hell would watch it. I know you said it didn't have any plot, but without it, it just doesn't feel complete. Nice job in any case, keep up the good work.

datalite-9 responds:

Did you read the discription? It was an afternoon project based off an old comic book I used to write in Jr. High.
I've been thinking about making it a full 'story' but this WAS NOT intented to be a story.

Not bad, I like this kind of stuf.

That wasn't too bad, but I think a better song could have been picked. Well, maybe I'm stretching it a bit; I've seen a Gundam Wing music video like this, but it was to Creeds "What if" song, and man oh man is it sweet (you can try to get it off of Kazaa if you haven't see/heard of it, it's really worth it.) I'll try not to judge too much off of that. I did like the scenes you chose, nice slashing and explosions. Though I kind of cringe at Gundam Wing (call me a U.C. fanatic, it's true, it's true, lol) I really like how it was executed. The one thing I can suggest that would have made this a lot better would be to time explosions and slashings to the really loud drum beats of the music, it really puts you into the video if it's done that way. In any case, it was pretty good; keep up the good work.

Renegade51 responds:

Thx, and thx for the advice
