One of the best games I've played.

I've reviewed lots of games, and this one is by far one of the best. It's not just the concept (I'm familiar with Sumurai Kirby anyways) it's the delicate drawings and backgrounds. You made the tension building up to the strike so damn stressful; that's awesome. I loved your visuals and the sfx and music was great. The challenge factor on this game was really something, I couldn't put it away until I whooped that last boss' ass on godlike, which wasn't an easy task. All in all, your special touch of creativity to this was awesome, excellent game and excellent job.

thanks a lot.
i appreciate good reviews.

Agh, I sooo want to give this a perfect score.

Man, it hurts to give this game an 8, it really does. But there are some issues in this game that sorely bring down it's awesome points. One is the lag. I have a decent machine (1.6 GHz processor) and man oh man did this game lag. I even put everything on low just to let up and get some fast action gameplay in there, but to no avail. Things felt like they were moving so slow, the game lost it's essence of being fast-paced and felt like I was dragging a 20 lb weight across the screen with my pinky. Another issue that came up that almost drove me to insanity was the sound. I'm not sure if this just happened to me, but everytime someone tried to speak in the game, it would skip like a raped CD, I would never have been able to know what was going on if not for the text; it really hurt the flow. I just wanted to get the bad stuff out of the way before I really got into how good the game's qualities are. Your visuals are just awesome. Tons of detail can be found in this game and I'm very impressed by it. The SFX are great as well, I love what happens when you use the gun that charges up all the way to fire; that is just too cool. Awesome explosions and amazing story line; this game really does seem to have it all. The only thing I would suggest is finding a way around lag and definitely cranking up the rate of fire, it was very very slow. I would mind if the enemies were 5 times tougher, I think it would be great for the fast-paced action you're going for. Sorry if I sound nit picky, it's just those few things that really brought down what I think is probably one of the most amazingly potential original games I've ever seen. And you said yourself this was just a version, so that leaves plenty of room to fix errors anyways, right? You're off to an awesome start with this game, every aspect of it has me intrigued; hope you can get it to be more fast paced, keep up the amazing work.

NegativeONE responds:

Thanks for the comments. I don't mind the nit-picking; I take it as constructive crit. There's too much to respond to, but I took in everything you said. Thanks for the input, for sure.

Awesome game.

Wow, what an improvement over slacker 1, I didn't think it was possible. Visuals really improved in this one and the addition of the town map kicked ass. The way everything came together in this was really well done. I liked the psycho ass pawn shop keeper and the music that was associated with him. Very cool Gas station scene. I love the concept of the slacker games, they're very creative. As for the nihilists, I forgot to ask in my Slacker 1 review, did you get the idea from the Big Labowski? Lol, it's just that I don't see too many nihilists with swords running around. Great job on this game series, keep up the great work.

Heh heh, yeah. I love that movie. I put a lot of random movie references (rip-offs) in this game.

An 8 on a dressup game??? Yup, that's right.

That was pretty nifty. I'm generally not too fond of dressup games, as a vast majority of them lack style and character. But that's just what seperates this from the rest. The range of outfists isn't just the same thing with a different color, you've got really nice drawn out outfits, from gowns and robes to leather and lacy apparel. Very creative. The audio was (at least for me) really addictive, I think it's gonna be stuck in my head now. One thing I would suggest, if you ever felt like doing another dressup, is make a few backgrounds. I'd suggest different poses, but Lord knows that would be a pain in the outfit department. I really got a kick out of this one, keep up the great art skills.

EmeraldTokyo responds:

Well I'm glad you liked it. I tried very hard to make it different. I am actually making a new one now, different poses and some backgrounds as well. I had changed the music from the original everyone hated. From your liking of it, I guess it's the better choice. I look forward to submitting the new one and getting another review from you.

Ah ha ha ha ha, run, run I say!!!

Ha ha, that game was too damn funny. Even though I support the war, I got a kick out of this game. I don't mind anti-war submissions at all, just as long as they've got a good message and they're delivered with style; you my friend did that with ease. Great way to voice your oppinion, this gets a 5, nice job.

RiftMaster responds:

Thank you! Long live free speech and the right to put in your two cents! :)

Agh, that punchman is one ruthless bi'atch!

Cruel, cruel, cruel. I don't know about anyone else, but that bastard punchman took me forever to take down. Eh, but on the other half, I thank you for dishing out such a formidable challenge. Awesome SFX. Didn't really have any problems with movement, controls worked just fine. Great job.

maelstormm responds:

Thanks

Pretty nifty

That was pretty good, I love the colision detection (or at least how big you made your buttons), I didn't have any uneccessary problems with the targeting. Some things the game seemed to be missing were things like a background, bonus point targets, and maybe a bonus stage? The music was great, but it made me kind of tired. I dunno, that's just me. Pretty fun game.

b-lame responds:

thank you.
i know the loops kinda tiring, but that was partly intended. :)
i remember the days when i was stuck to the classic arcade games. i was an addict - and the background music of those games kept crawling back on me at night in my dreams. nasty lil loops. my game's a tribute to those arcades.

thanks for reviewing.

It was ok.

Not bad, it was pretty decent. The knife one was the best. On the other hand, this kind of thing has been done before, so the options and weapons used were kind of cliche'. Also, don't use ploys and tell people "Vote 5 if you hate him", it's kind of cheap, so I took of some style points for it. Sounds like you've got a good grasp on flash though, so I'll keep an eye out for more of your work. Keep it up.

soadfan1987 responds:

Thanks for the review, and the VOTE 5 thing was just a joke.

NAHHH!!!! Drove me to insanity!!!!!

Ok, while I'm still fresh in the moment of anger, I"m giong to state things other players should know and will moste likely feel after playing this. For one, you have definitely got to work out the problem with megaman getting hit in the air. It sux cuz most of the time, your right next to a wall, but you can't save yourself by wall jumping back up; megaman is frozen with the hit alllll the way down. Ok, I could deal with that at first, but after a while...<shiver>. All that was fine and dandy, but when it came time to fight Bass, that's where a big problem arose that needs to be fixed. Fighting Bass is a pain in the ass, cuz it's a one shot thing. If you're killed, there's no comming back. The game keeps going on, with Bass flying around the screen. I had to restart thing game a few times b/c of this. And also, I WARN PLAYERS, when you fight Bass, STAY AWAY FROM THAT DAMN DOOR!!!! The game will glitch out and you'll be stuck in there. Please fix this. One more thing. I had sound on and everything, but after Bass blew up, that was it...megaman just stood there. Is that supposed to happen? Ok, sorry for writing such a long review on all that. Aside from that stuff, you had a great game here. Love the music. Can't wait for the real version to come out :D

Andrew-Traviss responds:

I'm sorry about some of those annoyances. The door glitch didn't happen to me when I playtested it before release. Sorry about that one, I'll look into it and upload a fixed version.

After being killed by Bass, you should respawn back at the beginning again. I've tested this myself many times. I'll continue to search for any bugs in that code, however.
What pose were you in when you beat Bass? That might help me find the problem. E-mail me with the answer, plz.
Thanks for the input, hopefully will be very helpful.
